Fitness Republic exists to make living a healthier and happier life accessible and convenient for millennials, so they can continuously be motivated and inspired to realize their fitness goals. It allows trainers to build and expand their own business, and maximize its growth.
In the late summer of 2007, I was on yet another 14-hour flight for one of my many business meetings in the US. As a tech entrepreneur, although you may have heard it from many before me, I live a very hectic and fast-paced lifestyle, jetting off from one country to the next, all the while neglecting my health, and not really having much of a personal life. This sense of imbalance has plagued most of my late 20s and early 30s.
At 33, I made an active decision to change the way I live. The first step I thought to take to initiate this change was to walk into a gym and sign up for a membership. Being a self-proclaimed nerd, I spent most of my time holding up books to my face, instead of weights, so I knew for sure that I needed proper supervision and guidance. After a half an hour consultation, the gym had quoted me $999 dollars for a one year personal training workout plan.
Although it came with a hefty price tag, I had some money to spare, so I decided to sign up. But a few sessions into it, I realized that having a set schedule with a personal trainer in just one gym didn’t make sense with my constant travelling, and my erratic schedule. It wasn’t only a waste of money, but also a struggle to organize my time around the trainer’s schedule.
Having a newfound awareness and yearning for health and fitness, the tech geek within me saw an opportunity to make personal training more accessible to people like me who lead busy lives and have often unpredictable schedules. With the plight of all goal-oriented, fitness seekers in mind, who feel restricted by their busy schedules, I decided to develop an app that allows its users to book personal training sessions with trainers within their area, and their price range, allowing them the ability to lead an active lifestyle.
