Breast implants nj is one of the popular ways of altering the way your breasts look and enhance them to look the way you want them to. Choosing the right size of the implant is a crucial task as it factors into how successful the outcome would be and also helps you to visualize the predict results. There are two kinds of implants which are available one is a cohesive silicone gel-based implant and the other is a saline implant. Deciding which one to opt for can be a task. So here is all that you need to know about Saline implants.

What are saline implants?

Till 2006, saline implants were the only implant option which was available to those who wanted to undergo the procedure in the US. However, their construction hasn’t changed drastically over the years. The shell is filled with a sterile saltwater solution which is a lot like what is naturally present in the body. There are a variety of sizes and profiles from which you can choose. There is also an option of having a textured or smooth surface. The implants are placed either above or below the chest muscles through incisions.

How are the implanted?

The shells are filled according to the desired size after they have been placed inside the body. Once the shell has been filled, it is automatically sealed upon the removal of the tube. The incision which is made for the implant tends to be smaller. They are the only choice when opting for the transumbilical method and are preferred for trans axillary incisions.

How much can the implants be filled?

The implants can be filled with saline for as many cubic centimetres as you like and even more, can be added later if you want.

What happens when the implant ruptures?

If by a rare chance, the implant ruptures then what happens is that deflation takes place quite quickly. This deflation reduces the size of the breast dramatically, hence you will be able to resolve the situation faster. The saline which has been released is harmless and will be absorbed by your body and eliminated.

How costly is the saline implant?

When compared to the silicone implants, the saline implants tend to cost lesser.

What are the drawbacks of having saline implants?

There are certain drawbacks of getting saline implants. Firstly, these implants are more firm as compared to the silicone gel implants which make them less pliable. This is also one of the reasons why the results of these implants feel less natural. Secondly, there is a higher risk of rippling and wrinkling, especially if you have very little or thin breast tissues. Thirdly, the saline implants are a bit heavier than the cohesive silicone gel implants.
