30-Minute Full Body Pilates Workout

Designed by Joseph Pilates and taught to wounded soldiers during World War I, Pilates is an exercise system designed to strengthen and stretch the muscles of the core, to build flexibility, raise body awareness, and increase flexibility and strength levels. Because this system is most often taught in large group settings, a lot of people think that if they want a full body Pilates workout, they have to get out of their house and head to the gym.

It can, of course, be a great experience to do Pilates exercises in a group setting, but let’s be honest: there are plenty of times when it’s hard to make it out of the house and attend a specific class. Whether it’s because of childcare, a difficult work schedule, or just needing some alone time, it can be nice to be able to do Pilates by yourself. Even if you’re not an exercise expert, you can easily do Pilates exercises on your own with a little help from the internet. We’ve gathered some great videos that each feature a great Pilates workout routine that you can do at home in 30 minutes or less.

1. Ultimate 30-Minute Cardio Pilates Burner

In this great Pilates workout routine from Popsugar, Lisa Corsello leads you through a mixture of cardio, weights work and Pilates exercises. The workout combines a lot of great high intensity moves like triceps jacks, jumping jacks, squats, lunges, triceps kickbacks, lateral raises, alternating hammer curls, knee repeaters, and more. It packs quite a lot of intensity into just 30 minutes, so get ready!

2. 30-Minute Full Body Sculpting Exercise for All Levels

You can find another 30-minute Pilates workout routine on YouTube, courtesy of JessicaSmithTV. This workout can be performed using a resistance band, light dumbbells, or even just your own bodyweight. It combines some great upper body, leg and core work, and it can all be done in the comfort of your own living room.

3. 30-Minute Low Impact Cardio Pilates Routine

Another great YouTube full body Pilates workout video comes courtesy of Body Project. This video combines Pilates exercises with cardio. It’s meant to help improve your core strength, burn fat, and boost your overall fitness level. It is designed to be suitable for people of all fitness levels.

4. Pilates Abs and Obliques Workout

If instead of a Pilates full body workout you’d rather have a session that focuses more on abs, Fitness Blender has an absolutely wonderful and intense Pilates workout that only takes 26 minutes. Although it works your midsection like a beast, this workout is low-impact, meaning that it’s easier on your joints than many forms of cardio. Fitness blender estimates that you’ll burn between 4 and 8 calories per minute during this workout session. You can perform the workout on its own, or if you’d like, you can combine it with the next workout on the list, which will target both your core and your lower body.

5. Pilates Butt and Thigh Workout

This video focuses primarily on the lower body, and it’s sure to leave your butt and legs feeling quite worked. With moves like the bridge, pelvic clock and leg pulse, you’ll definitely feel the burn. You’ll be lying down for most of this workout, so your heart rate may not get as high as with some other workout videos. Nevertheless, you definitely will be getting in a good workout.

6. Total Body Swimsuit Slim Down

If you want a quick total body Pilates workout, Blogilates has a great video. During the video, you’ll do one 2-minute set of each of the four following exercises: leg up crunches, up up down downs, fire hydrant butt kick combos, and sideways scissors. The video includes directions on how to do each of the exercises, and it takes just about 11 minutes, making it great for when you want a quick workout that nonetheless will push you to your limit.

7. 30-Minute Pilates Workout for Core, Arms and Legs

Andrefit.com has our last exercise video. It starts out with a great warm up to get the muscles ready to be worked, and then moves into a higher intensity section that you’ll definitely feel. It’s aimed at helping people develop lean muscle, improve their posture, and working out muscle tightness.

When You Do Online Pilates Exercises…

Just as with real-world Pilates classes, online workouts have their own unique feel. Different instructors bring a different focus and energy to their classes. Some of these workouts may not appeal to you, while others may. With most of these videos, if you find that you like a certain video’s style, you can easily find other workouts by the same instructor online.
