How to Make Your Elbows and Knees Fair

Do your elbows and knees appear darker than you think they should be?! Do you have dark elbows and dark knees that they actually seem dirty – even when they are not? Are they way darker than your skin tone? If this is something that picks on your head, then there is nothing to worry about. Dark elbows and dark knees are extremely common and can easily be treated. The dirty look on your elbows and knees is caused by the buildup of dead skin cells. Here we will discuss ways to help make your elbows and knees look fairer and smoother.

Step 1- Scrub

Scrubbing and exfoliating your skin is very important! This is because these two very simple steps that help get rid of the dead skin cells, dirt and excess oil that is covering up the fresh skin cells underneath, causing both dark knees and dark elbows. You can purchase a scrub or loofah from the store, or if you have the time, you can try natural scrubs such as sugar grains! Just rub and massage them on your elbows and knees then rinse off. This will help exfoliate the top layer, making way for new skin cells. Also making your skin in these areas soft!

Step 2- Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent which helps skin turn the skin on your knees and elbows lighter. Squeeze out some fresh lemon juice, do not add any water. Take some cotton balls and dip in the concentrated lemon juice. Do this twice a day, daily.

Step 3- Massage a Paste

You can mix up a concoction at home which will help lighten dark elbows and dark knees. All you need is baking soda, milk, lemon juice, turmeric and some sugar. The milk will help make your skin softer while the lemon and turmeric can help lighten your skin! Massage this mixture on your dark elbows and knees and then wash it off.

Step 4- Olive Oil

Usually the reason for darkening and hardened skin is lack of moisture. Areas such as your knees and elbows require a lot of moisturizing. Therefore, it is important to use a more powerful substance, for instance olive oil! Olive oil is the perfect solution as it is mild on your skin yet extremely moisturizing and has bleaching properties that even help make your skin glow!. What you can do, is massage these areas with olive oil and leave on at night. Rinse them out in the morning and repeat every night.

Step 5- Cocoa and Shea Butter

As discussed in the above paragraph, your skin needs a lot of moisture. Especially your knees and elbows as this helps from keeping dead skin cells from accumulating! The best moisture giving substance that even helps make your skin irresistibly soft is either cocoa butter or Shea butter/


Dark elbows and knees can be a major source of annoyance and may be discouraging you from about wearing clothes that reveal these parts. Try these solutions to rectify this problem. If you still fail to see a difference in the color of your knees and elbows, then you should consult a dermatologist.
