5 Ways to Rev Your Metabolism in the Morning

Mar 5, 2015 //

Whether for weight loss or simply overall health, metabolism
is probably in your vocabulary. For those who aren’t familiar with it,
metabolism is a process in the body where the things you consume are converted
into energy for your body to use. This process isn’t limited to the things you
do with your body; metabolism is important for bodily functions like repairing
cells and blood circulation, too. Here are five ways to get your metabolism
revved up in the morning and get your day started right!

Go to Bed Early

Preparation for a successful morning starts the night
before! Getting 7-9 hours of sleep the night before improves the metabolism and
your general health as a whole. Your nighttime slumber is vital for all of your
bodily processes, so make sure to catch plenty of zzzs the night before; your
metabolism will thank you for it!

Set Your Alarm Earlier

This one may be hard for some people, but it can actually be
very convenient and beneficial if you try it out! Getting up earlier than usual
can help get your body be in sync and eliminate waste. This is important
because your body has a natural 24-hour cycle, meaning that your body is
naturally going to want to rid itself of waste around dawn. Getting up at least
10 minutes earlier will help your body to better get rid of these wastes
without having to worry about any getting reabsorbed into the body, which is
what is at risk of happening the longer you sleep.

Drink Water

Water is always important when it comes to health, so of
course it will be a great way to start your morning off right! Hydration is the
key to keeping your metabolism in tip-top shape and energized for when you need
it most! Remember, it is recommended to drink about eight glasses a day.

Eat Eggs

Eggs are inexpensive, easy to make, and they do wonders for
boosting your metabolism! Eggs are full of protein, which are major
metabolism-boosters. Not only are they great for metabolism, but they also help
make you feel fuller for a longer period of time.

Light Exercise

We know, we know – exercising is the last thing on your mind
when you first wake up. A light workout in the morning though can do wonders
for your metabolism! You don’t have to run to the gym as soon as you get out of
bed, but a light jog or a few yoga poses for 10-30 minutes will do the trick!
