When you first start a relationship, everything is awesome. During the honeymoon phase, it seems like your partner can do no wrong. Everything they do is perfect and adorable, and you wouldn’t want them any other way. It seems effortless. As time goes on, however, some of the novelty of the relationship will begin to fade away.
Once you’ve been in a relationship for a while, it takes hard work to make it last. We’ve put together a list of our seven favorite ways to keep your relationship fresh and exciting.
Say Thank You
Everyone likes feeling appreciated, and there is no better way to make your partner feel loved than to show them you appreciate them. Say thank you when they do something for you, even the little everyday things. If your partner cleaned the dishes or made the made, say thank you and let them know you noticed.
You may be attracted to your partner, but they won’t know unless you tell them. Make your partner feel smart and sexy by telling them so. Compliment them about their body, their personality, and their successes. Giving your loved one compliments will not only boost their self-esteem, it will also make them feel better about the relationship and you.
Ask Them For Advice
Along the same lines as the previous tips, asking your partner for advice will make them feel needed and important. It will show them you respect them, and they will probably actually have good advice for you. You’re with them for a reason, right?
Listen to Them
One key to any relationship, whether it be with a friend, a family member, or your partner, is good listening skills. You should share everything with your partner, but it is just as important that you listen when they are talking to you. Show them you’re listening by paraphrasing what they’ve said back to them. Engage them in conversation and make sure you understand what they’re saying.
Loving words and genuine conversation are important, but you can’t forget physical contact. Make sure to touch each other every day, and not just in a sexual way. Hold hands as you walk together, and hug each other as often as possible. Regular touching increases sexual desire and can make your relationship warmer and more open.
Private Pet Names
Over time, you might develop inside jokes and private nicknames with your partner. Developing a personal repartee with your partner will increase your intimacy and show how well you know each other. Even if it feels a little funny at first, pet names will grow on you and help create a special bond between you and your partner.
Try New Things In The Bedroom
Being adventurous between the sheets can reignite a stagnant relationship. Ask for something new, and make an agreement with your partner that neither of you will judge the other for anything they suggest. Be open minded and accepting, and be willing to broaden your sexual horizons. The novelty alone will get you both going and lead to some incredible sex.
