Everyone loves donuts. It is always exciting when someone brings a dozen donuts into work, or when you go out for coffee and donuts with a friend. The problem is, donuts are expensive. Learn how to make your own donuts and enjoy them whenever you want. We’ve collected our 10 favorite donut recipes for you to enjoy.

1. Cake Donuts


  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 quarts oil for deep frying
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup white sugar

Stir together the flour, ½ cup sugar, baking powder, salt, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Pour in the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla and mix until well blended. Refrigerate for one hour.

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • a“ cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tbsp margarine, melted
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 4 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup any flavor fruit jam
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying

In a bread machine pan, add butter, salt, sugar, bread flour, salt, nutmeg, and yeast. Set the machine to the sweet dough cycle. Once the dough cycle is completed, put the dough on a floured board and let sit for 10 minutes. Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness, then cut into 2 ½ circles. Place ½ teaspoon jam in the center of half of the dough circles. Place the other half of the dough circles on top, pinching the edges to seal them.   • 1 cup water
  • 2 ½ tbsp white sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine water, 2 ½ tbsp sugar, salt, and two teaspoons vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball. 5. Glazed Pumpkin Doughnuts

Donut Ingredients:

  • 1 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

  • 1 ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl, then add pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, and softened butter.   • 4 tbsp white sugar

  • 1 ½ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 tbsp cream

Put four tablespoons sugar, salt, shortening, and orange zest in a saucepan with one cup hot water. Bring to a boil. Mix in one cup of flour. Cook until thick, stirring constantly, then remove from heat and cool slightly. Beat in one egg at a time. Using a rose tip, press dough through a pastry bag in the desired shape onto a well-greased square of paper. Turn paper upside down and let crullers drop into 375 degree oil.   • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • ½ cup white sugar

  • 1 cup evaporated milk

Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degrees. Whisk buttermilk, white sugar, and eggs together in a bowl. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir buttermilk mixture into flour mixture until combined, then add butter and knead until a soft dough forms. Roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into donut shape.
