So what do you do: Pilfer the break room for leftover donuts or hit the vending machine? Neither! You packed one of these delicious, nutritious 100-calorie snacks.
These bad boys are quick, portable, and healthy. Even more important, they’ll keep you full until your next meal.
Take a small whole-wheat or corn tortilla and top it with two tablespoons of fat-free bean dip. Sprinkle on two tablespoons of shredded low-fat cheddar cheese. Roll up and enjoy! The beans are a source of tummy filling protein, the tortilla gives you a healthy-carb energy boost, and the cheese provides calcium.
Refreshing Watermelon Treat
Try one cup of diced watermelon, mixed with an ounce of crumbled up fat-free feta or goat’s cheese. Top with a teaspoon of chopped mint and a squeeze of fresh lemon for tang. The cheese will fill you up and provide calcium, while the mint will aid in digestion. Watermelon provides vitamin A, C, B6, lycopene and antioxidants.
Ranch Yogurt Dip
Mix a package of ranch dressing herbs (just the herbs, not the dressing itself) with fat-free plain Greek yogurt. Dip in 10 baby carrots and enjoy! The Greek yogurt will help fill you up – it’ a healthy substitute for sour cream – provides helpful bacteria for your stomach and adds calcium. The carrots are low in fat and provide vitamin A.
Grab an organic medium sized tomato and an ounce of fresh mozzarella. Slice the tomato, lay pieces of mozzarella on each slice, sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar. Tomatoes are a great antioxidant, vinegar is cleansing, and the mozzarella will fill you up and provide calcium.
Liven up a cup of brothy soup with a squeeze of lemon! Hot lemon juice, in conjunction with the broth will boost your immune system and aid in digestion.
So ditch those 100-calorie packs and choose one of these more balanced and more delicious options.
