Grapefruit is a citrus fruit, closely related to the lemon,
orange, and pomelo. Though not as popular as the previous three fruits
mentioned, the Barbados natives still pack a punch when it comes to health
benefits! And what better way to start your day than with a nice glass of
vitamins and nutrients!

Weight Loss

Grapefruit juice is low in calories and is a powerhouse when
it comes to burning fat! It is great option to drink, other than water, before
a meal. Doing this will help you feel full faster and help you lose weight. Not
to mention that grapefruit juice is believed to minimize levels of insulin in
the body, causing you to lose weight.

Diabetes Control

Speaking of insulin, studies
have shown that grapefruit could possibly have the potential to lower glucose
levels in the same manner that the drug metaformin can in controlling Type 2

Grapefruit, specifically pink and red grapefruit, have a
large amount of beta carotene, which is vital for the health of the eyes. They
also have vitamin A, lutein, lycopene, and a number of other antioxidants that
can do wonders for eyesight.

Muscle and Nerve Health

Grapefruit juice contains potassium, which is important to
proper nerve and muscle functionality. Potassium helps to stimulate the muscles
so they can contract, causing the muscle to move. Potassium is also important
because it helps to trigger action potential, which is important for
communication between the nerves!

Skin and Hair Care

You already know that grapefruit contains vitamin A and
antioxidants, but did you know it also has vitamin C and minerals? The vitamin
C helps to protect, smooth, and add that extra snap-back to your skin! We can’t
forget about the potassium! It helps to protect your skin, smooth wrinkles, and
diminish age spots!

Once again, vitamins A and C to the rescue! These two come
together once again to help promote healthy hair! Both vitamins help increase
blood flow to the scalp, which is a wonder for hair growth.
