Ingredients

  • Apple(s) without skin, raw | 8.00 cup slices
  • Apple cider vinegar | 0.33 cup
  • Self-rising enriched wheat flour | 0.25 cup
  • Brown sugar | 0.50 cup packed
  • Spices, cinnamon, ground | 0.50 tsp
  • Butter without salt | 1.00 tbsp
  • Regular refrigerated pie crust, unbake | 1.00 pie crust average weight
  • Drinking tap water | 0.50 fl oz
  • Egg, white, raw | 1.00 large
  • Granulated sugar | 1.00 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Arrange apple in an 11 x 7-inch baking dish. Drizzle cider over apples.
  3. Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon; cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle flour mixture over apple mixture.
  4. Roll dough into a 12 x 8-inch rectangle. Place dough over apple mixture; fold edges under, and flute.
  5. Cut 3 slits in top of dough to allow steam to escape.
  6. Combine water and egg white, stirring well with a whisk.
  7. Brush dough with egg white mixture; sprinkle evenly with turbinado sugar.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
