- Grease a 9” square pan after preheating the oven to 350°F.
- Fold cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt in a separate bowl with flour.
- In another bowl, combine sugar, eggs, oil and applesauce and whisk. Add vanilla and whisk. Add dry ingredients to wet and combine with a whisk. Add nuts or chocolate chips or toffee, if you prefer.
- Bake for half hour or until sides separate from the pan. Dust with confectionery sugar when pan has cooled, serve sliced.
