Ingredients

  • Seedless golden raisins | 0.50 cup, packed
  • Drinking tap water | 0.50 cup 8 fl oz
  • Butter without salt | 0.25 cup
  • Egg bread | 10.00 slice 5" x 3" x 1/2"
  • Brown sugar | 1.00 cup packed
  • Spices, cinnamon, ground | 1.00 tsp
  • Spices, allspice, ground | 0.25 tsp
  • Egg, whole, raw | 3.00 small
  • Salt | 0.25 tsp
  • Whole milk with added vitamin D | 3.00 cup

Instructions

  1. Cover raisins with water and set aside.
  2. Melt butter
  3. Break up the bread and set aside.
  4. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice. Reserve 3 tablespoons of this mixture for topping.
  5. Toss bread with remaining sugar mixture.
  6. Pour melted butter on before you toss the bread crumbs. Your sugar mixture will stick better that way.
  7. Place 1/2 of bread mixture in a lightly greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
  8. Drain raisins, place 1/2 raisins over bread crumbs.
  9. Repeat layers. Combine egg, salt, and vanilla in a bowl. Beat for 1 minute.
  10. Now warm the milk on fire and cool it down at room temperature.
  11. Add milk slowly into the egg mixture.
  12. Pour over this mixture in dish.
  13. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  14. Sprinkle reserved sugar mix on top.
  15. Bake at 325 degree F for 45 to 50 minutes
