  • Granulated sugar | 2.00 cup
  • Salt | 1.00 dash
  • Light corn syrup | 1.00 cup
  • Drinking tap water | 0.50 cup 8 fl oz
  • Balsamic vinegar | 1.00 tbsp
  • Butter without salt | 2.00 tbsp
  • Rum | 0.50 fl oz

  1. Combine sugar, salt, corn syrup and water in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Stir over low heat and add vinegar and butter. Continue to cook, stirring only occasionally until mixture reaches 265 F.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in rum. Pour into lightly buttered pan, with a heavy spatula, work the candy mixture from edges towards center.
  4. When cool enough to handle, butter your fingers and put candy between hands until it becomes hard to pull.
  5. Pull into a 2.5-inch diameter rope. Cut with scissors and wrap individually.
  6. Butter Rum Taffy is ready!
