Ingredients

  • Apple(s) without skin, raw | 8.00 medium 3" dia
  • Granulated sugar | 1.00 cup
  • Butter without salt | 6.00 tbsp
  • Cornstarch | 0.50 oz
  • Drinking tap water | 0.50 fl oz
  • Whole milk with added vitamin D | 0.50 cup

Instructions

  1. Put the peeled and finely diced apples into a 1.25-quart baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle with sugar, dot with butter
  3. Bake, uncovered, at 450 F 20 minutes, or until fork-tender, basting occasionally.
  4. Remove baking dish from oven and apples from baking dish.
  5. Combine cornstarch, water and vanilla extract; add to milk.
  6. Stir into liquid in baking dish. return apples to baking dish.
  7. Bake an additional 8 to 10 minutes, or until sauce is thickened.
  8. To serve, spoon sauce over each apple.
