Ingredients

  • Cherries, sour, red, raw | 1.50 cup, without pits
  • Cherries, frozen, sweetened | 0.50 cup, thawed
  • Apple cider vinegar | 0.50 cup
  • Drinking tap water | 0.33 fl oz
  • Garlic, raw | 2.00 Tbsp
  • Granulated sugar | 1.00 tbsp
  • Spices, allspice, ground | 0.13 tsp
  • Spices, cardamom | 0.13 tsp, ground
  • Spices, cinnamon, ground | 0.13 tsp
  • Cayenne pepper | 0.13 tsp
  • Spices, ginger, ground | 0.25 tsp

Instructions

  1. Combine pitted sour cherries, frozen sweetened cherries, vinegar, water, crushed garlic, sugar, ginger, allspice, cardamom, cinnamon and cayenne in a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Let cool slightly. Transfer to a blender. Cover the lid with a kitchen towel.
  5. Holding lid securely in place, blend until smooth. (Use caution when blending hot liquids.) Transfer the ketchup to a small bowl.
  6. Enjoy and serve with favorite chips or steaks.
  7. Cover and refrigerate up to two weeks,
