Ingredients

  • Drinking tap water | 5.00 cup 8 fl oz
  • Brown rice, medium grain, raw | 2.00 cup
  • Spices, cinnamon, ground | 0.75 tsp
  • Spices, nutmeg, ground | 0.75 tsp
  • Salt | 0.50 tsp
  • Seedless raisins | 0.50 cup, packed
  • Dried apricots, uncooked | 0.50 cup, halves
  • Margarine, regular, hard, soybean hydrogenated | 2.00 tbsp
  • Blanched almonds | 0.50 cup whole kernels
  • Granulated sugar | 1.00 oz

Instructions

  1. Combine water and first 6 ingredients in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil. Stir once and reduce heat.
  3. Cover and simmer 45 minutes.
  4. Melt margarine in a skillet.
  5. Add almonds and sauté until golden.Sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Pour over rice and serve.
