Ingredients

  • Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, unbleached | 1.50 cup
  • Low sodium baking powder | 1.00 tsp
  • Salt | 0.25 tsp
  • Shortening, lard and vegetable oil | 0.50 cup
  • Seedless raisins | 0.50 cup, packed
  • Egg, whole, raw | 1.00 small
  • Orange juice, raw | 1.00 fl oz
  • Orange peel, raw | 2.00 tsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 275*F.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, set aside.
  3. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add all at once: raisins, eggs, orange juice, and orange rind. Combine them well.
  4. Make into small balls; flatten on cookie sheet.
  5. Place in oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve to your kids on weekends.
