- Beat egg and set aside.
- Take a medium bowl; sift the flour, salt, all ground mixed spices, ginger and baking soda together through a sieve or strainer.Mix in the oats.
- Take a skillet; add molasses, butter, milk and sugar. Heat up gently until mixed well and butter is completely melted. Add in the oat and flour mixture, combine them well. Stir in beaten egg, now spread the batter into a lightly greased and lined 7 inch deep square cake pan.
- Preheat oven to 350*F. Bake now for an hour then remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Wrap it with foil and store for at least 1 week before dividing into 8 squares to serve.
