- Grate the lemon peel; chop the garlic clove. Put canned tomatoes, grated lemon peel, chopped garlic, oil, basil, sugar, salt and pepper in a saucepan and let boil. Cover and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove the cover and again simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce is thick. Adjust seasoning.
- Ready to serve.
