Rodan and Fields are an American manufacturing company that make skin care products and skin care regimes. It’s founders, Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields also started the company Proactiv. Rodan and Field’s adopt a multi level marketing approach in order to distribute their products.

Rodan and Fields offer a variety of skin care products each of which are aimed at different areas of skin nourishment. They have products for redefining the skin, products that are aimed to convert the skin to an earlier stage, products that are aimed to clear the skin of blemishes and spots, as well as products that are designed solely for the nourishment and moisturisation of the skin.

Rodan and Fields offer what they call the “Solution Tool.”  The solution tool aims to take information about you and your skin, and recommend a skincare regime with the Rodan and Fields products that will help you on your way to excellent, healthy skin. For example, if you are someone that struggles with acne, wrinkles in your skin, skin sensitivity or discolouration. The solution tools should be able to offer you a regime to rectify this.

After you meet with a consultant from Rodan and Fields, you will then have access to their solution tool – it is only available through independent consultants from the brand. Throughout the rest of this article, we will review some of Rodan and Fields’s products, as well as weighing up the pros and cons of using the company as a whole. Let’s take a look at the different purposes that each of Rodan and Field’s products and regimes serve!

Redefine – The “Redefine” aims to make the user’s skin look considerably younger and less weathered. It provides three steps, and a variety of products that aim to do so. They sell the products that make up the process as one package, and separately as well. Within the “Redefine” regimen is included a mask for cleansing that is to be used daily, as well as a toner that is designed for minimizing the visibility of pores, as well as a treatment to guard the skin overnight, and a cream that aims to restore the skin to its best possible state overnight. This is a great skincare regime that could provide fantastic noticeable results if used correctly – it does however retail at a cost of over $200, which is fairly expensive.

Reverse – “Reverse” is another skincare regime that is designed and produced by Rodan and Fields. The aim of the “Reverse” regime is to make the skin appear more bright, reduce the look of dullness from the skin, as well as treat any areas of the skin that appear to be discoloured or that do not have an even tone. The regime starts off with an exfoliating wash, that penetrates deep into the skin removing impurities and contaminants that could cause it to not be as bright and radiant as possible. It removes any skin cells that have died and are masking the true appearance of the skin. Next up is a toner that aims to make the skin appear as bright as possible, including salicylic acid – a well known skincare product. After the toner, a “dual active brightening complex” should be applied, which adds vitamin C to the skin in an attempt to deal with any discolouration that is present in the skin. It also contains Retinol – a compound that helps reduce the appearance of imperfections such as frown lines and wrinkles. The final stage in the “Reverse” regimen is that of the application of sunscreen, since sun damage is after all the main cause of damage and aging to the skin! This stage includes the application of “Broad Spectrum” sunscreen, which protects the skin against sun damage and resultantly allows the skin to shine brighter and at its best! In terms of cons of this process, it is warned that it can contain Benzophenone, which is considered to cause cancer.

Unblemish – Next up is the “Unblemish” routine. It is specifically designed for adults that are suffering from acne and skin blemishes, as well as aging skin. It aims to clear these blemishes and the acne gradually whilst giving the user the smoothest skin possible. It aims to protect the skin against recurring blemishes as well, as well as making larger pores less visible, and thereby achieving the healthiest, youngest looking skin possible. The routine is made up of four stages. The first is the exfoliating wash that acts against acne present on the skin. It contains small beads that aim to rub away carefully dead skin cells, as well as removing additional skin oils and contaminants. It contains Colloidal Sulfur amongst other minerals which aim to make the skin as healthy and as radiant as possible. Next up in the regime is a toner, that includes a variety of mild acids that exfoliate and toughen the skin. There are also other natural ingredients included at this stage that naturally nourish the skin, helping it to look even better! The third stage of “Unblemish” is the acne treatment stage. This stage contains benzoyl peroxide, which is known to be very effective for both treating acne and preventing it in future. It also contains a number of natural ingredients to fuel the skin after its repair that are optimised for use on the skin of adults. It also contains chamomile and pomegranate to reduce and irritation that may have occurred on the skin. These natural ingredients are beneficial to the skin in so many ways! This product however does retail at almost $200 dollars.

Overall, Rodan and Fields products are undoubtedly good for the skin. They contain a fine mix of ingredients that aim to make the skin the best it possibly can be. However, the products are quite expensive and could be considered far too much by some people to spend in the first place unless they are absolutely positive that the results they are looking for are going to be achieved. As with many products, there are many pros and cons of Rodan and Field’s products.
