As winter fades away and the spring and summer seasons start to arrive, it’s common to start considering your health and wellness. Many gyms around America are starting to reopen after having been closed for the pandemic. There are many things to consider as we start our fitness journeys again. The safety of you and those around you should be top of mind while trying to get fit. Here are some insights as you workout with Covid-19 still prevalent.

Switch it Up

Winter months are great for focusing on strength and resilience in the body. When summer comes along, however, is the perfect time to switch it up and focus more on clean eating and leaning out. Usually during the winter people are more likely to overeat. Summer is the perfect opportunity to clean the house (your body) and get back on track with the lifestyle you really want to be living.

Make Wise Food Choices

You don’t need to follow some insane diet to get into great shape- that is unsustainable anyway. You should, however, make wise choices not only for your fitness goals, but for your immune system as well. After your workout, choose a healthy post-workout snack, such as products from Power Life. While many gyms are practicing safe distancing practices and sanitation procedures, it’s important to do your part by cleaning surfaces of workout equipment once you are done using them. Some gyms are requiring everyone to wear a mask. This is a safe practice, but while doing high intensity cardio, it’s important to remember that the mask makes breathing difficult. Take breaks regularly so you’re not at risk of fainting.

Adjust Your Workout Routine According To How You Feel

Discipline is required in any program but it turns out, the ratio of days your workout to rest days varies depending on the person. If you feel best when you are working out for 3 days a week, stick to that until you feel like you can handle more. If you thrive off of working out 5 days a week and resting for 2, go for it! Trust yourself. You want to feel more energized from your workout- not drained!

Efficient and Effective

Of course, we will all have our off-days. Again, the important thing here is to gauge how you are feeling that day. Contrary to the popular belief, more sweat and high-intensity workouts do not ensure that you are doing what’s best for your body that day.

A Quick Workout is Better Than No Workout

Don’t underestimate the power of a 10 to 20 minute workout if that’s all you’ve got. The point is that you put in the work and get your blood circulating. This still provides much-needed benefits to the mind and body and will leave you feeling refreshed.

With Covid-19 still prevalent, it’s important to adjust to new gym policies if you hope to get into shape and keep the safety of you and those around you at the forefront. It’s also important to eat healthy and build up your immune system at this time. Although these can seem like one more obstacle to achieve your fitness goals, it will be worth it in the long run.
