Nature Sightseeing & Photography For Mental Health – A Story
Whenever it comes to health and fitness, it’s not necessary that you have to talk about workouts, medicines, or trainers or to see doctors. Though they are important too but there is another thing which has more of a spiritual effect on body and the mental relaxation which helps you to cope with your physical health challenges also.
Talking about mental health and wellbeing, what comes first in mind is travelling. It’s undoubtedly a way to give immense relaxation to your mind and body. Here is a story of young boy who discovered his passion and peace in nature seeing and capturing those moments for the time when he might not been able to travel and would recall those memories by sitting on an easychair.
Since he was a young boy, Nathan loved nature photography. From the time he got his first camera, he was outside taking pictures of plants and bugs, always getting excited when a neighborhood cat came into sight to make the pictures more interesting. As he grew older, Nathan’s love of photography only grew too, but his photo subjects became more sophisticated. He traveled around to find National Parks and other beautiful natural escapes where he could take photos.
When he came to his 40th birthday, Nathan decided to take a special birthday trip to a place he always wanted to go to: Iceland. A dream destination for photographers, the stunning scenery of Iceland captivated Nathan, and he had always dreamed of the opportunity to take photos there. For this trip however, he did something a bit different. He knew he would take lots of pictures himself while traveling, but he decided to also hire a photographer through Localgrapher.
“I’m always taking pictures of the things I see, and yet I never have any pictures of me in those places. My kids are growing up, and I want them to have some special photos of their dad in the midst of his work,” Nathan explained.
He set out on his solo vacation excited at the prospect to finally visit Iceland, and to have the opportunity meet with a local photographer.
The arrangement was to meet the photographer in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, to do the professional photo shoot there before Nathan went off on his own to explore the rest of the island and get his own nature photographs. Immediately Nathan fell in love with the city of Reykjavik, the amazing museums, and the coastal scenery. His met with his personal photographer for the day at the Hallgrímskirkja, one of the most iconic landmarks of Reykjavik and easily one of Nathan’s favorite spots in the city.
“It was fun and interesting to do a professional photo shoot with someone else. I’m always so immersed in my own photography, so I liked seeing someone else’s style and to have the opportunity to get some pictures with me in them. It will be good for memories, and for my family,” said Nathan.
When the photo shoot was over, Nathan set off on the second part of his vacation, where he would have the chance to photograph some of the natural wonders of the island. Top of his list were some of the geysers of Iceland, fueled by the geothermal activity beneath the ground. He visited the famed Strokkur Geysir and got some excellent shots of the jets of hot water shooting toward the sky.
Next, he had planned to visit the Landmannalaugar region of the country, known for its stunning scenery and colored hills. The raw and rugged character of the landscape was exactly what Nathan was hoping for to photograph. He stayed at a mountain lodge, and spent the days exploring and taking guided hikes to see more of the area.
Already happy with his experience as a photographer in Iceland, Nathan had a special treat on the night before he flew back home; he was lucky enough to see the spectacular northern lights of Iceland, which certainly added the final touch to his photographs. After getting pictures of geysers, waterfalls, coastal scenery, and the mountains, this was the prize shot of his trip.
