Everyone loves hair. It is why the hair and beauty industry is doing so good today. While most days are good hair days, a bad hair day can feel like the end of the world for anyone. The good thing is that most hair problems are solvable, and so you do not have to spend the rest of your life worrying about bad hair days. Here are several hair issues that are common among most people, and how you can prevent them:
Hair loss
Hair loss is one of the most prominent challenges people face. Out of the estimate 150000 hair strands in a normal human being, one loses about 100 strands each day. While that is normal, losing more than 50% makes hair loss very apparent, which is then referred to as balding.
When hair loss is not hereditary, there are several ways to deal with it:
- Proper dieting – your food portions should be right and well balanced. Ensure you have a substantial intake of proteins such as eggs to help in the growth process
- Moisturizing – hair loss can increase due to dryness of the strands that weakens the hair
- Minimal manipulation – regularly brushing, combing and styling hair affects the strength of the hair strands
- Medication – some medical treatments are very harsh and can cause hair loss, for example, chemotherapy
Dry Damaged Hair
Dehydration is not only a problem for the body but also hair. The more your hair is dry, the weaker it becomes. For your hair to become dry and damaged, it is mostly due to over-processing, for example too much bleaching, coloring, straightening, and perming.
While these solutions may be appealing to you, you need to cut back on the frequency. Do not be too fond of processing your hair as this will only weaken and damage your mane. If you have to, ensure your products do not contain harmful ingredients like alcohol, Chlorine, among others. Also avoid exposing your hair to too much heat with blow dryers, electric curlers, to mention a few.
Frayed Ends
Frayed ends can result in a lot of tangles that can increase hair breakage and damage. Lucky for you, you can always trim off the raggedy ends as long as you have the best electric shaver for men. A trim every few days or weeks should keep the hair ends in check.
Straw-like Locks
Your hair can appear very dull when a lot of the moisture in your hair’s outer layer is lost. Ideally, swimming, over-shampooing, and too much exposure to the wind and sun are the common causes of straw-like hair. This is when your hair strands have lost the protective layer of the natural oils that your scalp produces. At this point, the inner layers of the hair shaft are exposed and getting drier by the day.
Luckily, you can control all these by making conditioner your friend. The goal is to restore moisture to your strands every chance you get. Also determined to cut down on the amount of shampoo you use, as you regulate the type of products you buy. Overall, ensure that the shampoo you use is low on sulfates. Consider wearing hats and caps to shade your hair from extreme wind and sun.
Bad Hair Odour
Any kind of odor is repelling to other people. When your hair has a bad smell, it is as a result of product build-up, sweat, oil glands overproducing, dust and dirt. While a lot of this can be fixed by washing your mane, you can do so much more. For one, remember that anything you consume reflects in the secretions of your body. Therefore, correct your diet options for your overall health.
Secondly, be careful with the product you choose to use. Some can be too heavy on your hair causing excessively oily hair conditions, not to mention, have a bad odor.
